Hohenheim University – Gambling Research Centre
The Gambling Research Centre is an independent university facility that was established in 2004 and does not pursue any commercial goals. It has made it its task to take a closer interdisciplinary look at the various aspects of gambling applying scientific methods. More than 20 scientists support the Gambling Research Centre by contributing their expertise from diverse areas with the aim of subjecting gambling to a systematic study of the legal, economical, mathematical, social, medical, and psychological aspects.
Ruhr University Bochum - INSTITUT FÜR GLÜCKSSPIEL UND GESELLSCHAFT
The Institut für Glücksspiel und Gesellschaft (GLÜG) is a third-party funded Research Institute at the Department of Law at the Ruhr University of Bochum in cooperation with the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics at the Heinrich Heine University of Düsseldorf and the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences at the Bergische University of Wuppertal. The institute is being supported for a period of 5 years by the German Verband der Deutschen Automatenindustrie e.V. (VDAI) slot machine industry association and the Westdeutschen Lotterie GmbH & Co. OHG. The focus of the institute is on researching the social and economical relevance of gambling in its various forms and the development of the possibilities of a sustainable legal regulation. Aspects of constitutional, administrative, fiscal, and union law are thematized during interdisciplinary discussions, as are the economical aspects of the development and regulation of gambling markets and the social science dimensions of gambling and its regulation.
